Explanation
Though Collin was certainly one to oblige meetings, especially if Dr. Clef and Dr. Cimmerian came out for him, he was antsy. On the one hand, his encounter with SCP-049 brought some comfort to him. SCP-096 was okay and wanted to see him. He was very disorganized. He didnât even remember to put something in his pocket as a treat.
âWhere is he?â
âHeâs in the center of the cell,â Dr. Skruggs replied. âThatâs where he stayed when SCP-049 was removed.â He then turned to Dr. Clef, âSCP-049 and SCP-096 had a peaceful encounter. By the sounds of it, he was even able to look into 096âs face without incident. Then, before we knew it, he had apparently pulled a syringe from his bag and injected 096 withâsomething. We donât know what it is. We have confiscated the syringe and we have already taken blood samples for testing. 096 seems fine and subdued.â
âSounds like whatever the doc gave him, it was some good stuff,â Collin chuckled.
âDid 049 tell you anything of importance?â Dr. Clef asked him.
âHe just said he dun gave Skippy medicine to make him feel peaceful fer a while. Ease his sufferinâ. Didnât sound like he was tryinâ ta hurt him none. That beinâ said, Iâm glad that doc was able to get a look at him.â
âThat is certainly something to remember,â Dr. Clef said with a nod. âAnything else of note, Dr. Skruggs? Dr. Parson?â
âLavender,â Parson replied. âIt smelled like lavender when the doors were opened.â
âI could smell it when he was next ta me,â Collin chimed in. âSmelled relaxinâ and clean.â
âOf all the smells he could use, lavender does seem to be his favorite,â Dr. Parson chuckled. âWill Mr. Dillard be able to go in?â
âDoc said he was lookinâ fer me.â
âLetâs not get ahead of ourselves,â Dr. Cimmerian finally said. âMr. Dillard, I have looked over the notes provided by this team. Dr. Clef has also spoken on your behalf. Your progress with SCP-096 has been swift and overall positive. Considering what heâs capable of, this is actually quite relieving to hear.â
âNormally, D-Class staff do not stay with us very long. There is a turnover monthly and your time is just about up.â Skruggs added.
âAre ya kickinâ me out, Doc?â Collin asked nervously. âI ainâts gots nowhere ta go.â
âActually, thatâs what Iâm here to tell youââ Cimmerian replied. âNo. We will not be removing you from the Foundationâif you are interested in staying.â
âSomeoneâs gotta look after Skippy, Doc,â Collin stated. âI mean, I knows yunz mean well. Yunz and Dr. Skruggs, Keller, and Parson, but yunz kinda suck at it. Weâve gots a bond.â
âYes, you do.â Dr. Cimmerian nodded. âThis is why weâd like to have you stay. It would be really helpful to us to have someone who can interact safely with SCP-096, get him to cooperate. Iâve even heard youâve managed to get him to speak, which is remarkable. This progress of yours is invaluable, and the trust put into you is something incredibly special.â
âIâve worked with SCP-096 for several years,â Skruggs said.
