command

Execute or print information about a built-in command.

command [-pvV] name [arg …]

Without -v or -V, execute name with given arguments. This command bypasses any aliases or functions that may be defined for name. When used with a special built-in, it prevents the built-in from exiting the script if it fails. In POSIX mode, assignments given as arguments to the alias, declare, export, local, readonly, and typeset commands still take effect, even when preceded by command.
