Make a list of gifts that make you who you are. How can you draw upon those gifts to navigate the pathways of loss?

âThe community needs the dying to make it think of the eternal and to make it listen.â
Dr. Cicely Saunders, Founder
St. Christopher Hospice, London
a bridge to God
When someone close to us is dying, we start thinking more earnestly about what happens next. Where are we headed after life here on earth? Whom will we meet there? In this way, people who are dying connect us to the spiritual realm. It is as if a door has opened that we barely dared peek through before. The âpeace that passes all understandingâ results from the realization that the God we had hoped to find is there for us, arms opened wide, generous with compassion. My friends Mike and Brie encountered this very embrace even as they suffered the heartbreaking loss of their newborn son.
