Amhar was pacing up and down in his chamber in a scene that mirrored the one that had just been acted out in the king's study. But this time it was Mordrede sitting and watching Amhar pacing up and down delivering a tirade about how small minded and unyielding the king was.

"I cannot believe that we think so differently, Mordrede. Arthur cannot see that what he is doing is wrong. Why? Is he bewitched with an evil force that drives him to do these perplexing things?" it was a silly question of course. Should Arthur be under any kind of magical influence, both Merlin and Morgan would be able to recognise and circumvent it. Mordrede knew that; Amhar was just exasperated with his father's belligerent attitude toward the Saxons and the others.

"How did the conversation end? Did ye plead for the security of Camlann?" Mordrede's innocent question only served to once again highlight the manner in which Amhar had insulted Arthur. This was a part of the exchange that Amhar had thus far left out of the retelling of the account. Mordrede realised from the lack of reply that he had somehow hit upon a nerve.

"King Arthur intends to go forward with the attack on Camlann," said Amhar leaving out any reference to his insult. This time it was Mordrede's turn to become exasperated with the situation. He stood up and clenched his fists.

"Why? It does not make any sense to attack our own people!"

"That did not stop him from removing the Saxon men from Exeshulme. Reason hath left him Mordrede. We must take matters into our own hands."

The sudden turn of conversation took Mordrede by surprise.

"What do ye mean…how?' he asked, confounded by the suggestion.

"We shall ride to Camlann and form a party of resistance to stand against Arthur when he arrives with the Knights. He will surely not attack a defensive force led by his own son.” Amhar was only formulating the treasonous plan as he spoke the words. He’d not given any thought to the consequences of such a manoeuvre, nor exactly how to enable it. Mordrede should have been absolutely horrified at the very thought of opposing the king. But instead he stood frozen thinking about how such a resistance may be the shock that Arthur needed to make him see reason.

"It will stop the king from any further attacks within the realm," said Mordrede, thinking aloud.

"Aye, exactly, then he may stop and consider what we hath been telling him all along, that there’s no need to battle these people. They’re already one with us, they live by tilling the same land as we do, raising families as we do, drinking laughing and trying to build a better life for themselves. What harm is there in that?" The Prince was preaching to the converted. Mordrede saw the sense in everything that Amhar was saying and hastened to agree with his half-brother.

"Surely if we stand together, his son the rightful heir to the throne and his illegitimate
