BEING A LEADER:

A leader is someone who is inspired by his/her vision and inspires others to view that vision ahead. For e.g., the vision of Martin Luther King was to have equal rights for all men and that his children would be judged by the character and not the color of their skin. That vision of his, synced with many of his followers, whose demonstrations and protests brought a major change in the US Law and history.

Apple Inc.’s vision to “Make best products on Earth” inspired many people to have a similar vision. Thus Apple became a world leader, inspiring entrepreneurs to think of making not just any product, but products that make life easier for people to use.

In both the cases of Apple and Martin Luther King, neither of them had the power of doing everything all by themselves, but their vision inspired many people. Martin Luther King was not even a lawmaker, but his famous “I have a dream” speech, in August 1963, inspired many. His vision to see America as a land with equal opportunities for everyone, led everyone to take action. This led the reformers to put civil rights on the top of their agenda, thus leading to the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964. Leadership is all about inspiring people to see your vision and help them take action.

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.
