Charlie enjoyed taking a couple of days away from school. She just needed some time away from the drama and she was feeling much better for it. Her friends reached out and she let them know she was doing okay; she just needed some time to relax since her mental health had been at rock bottom lately.

Taylor hadn’t mentioned Jacob either, so she hoped he dropped the whole situation. He hadn’t reached out to her, and she hadn’t reached out to him, however she was sure she would bump into him tonight at Isabelle’s place.

After spending the afternoon alone since Taylor was out with Danny and Theo, she decided to get ready for the party. She asked if Taylor would be attending with the boys, but she wasn’t sure. She didn’t want to make any promises she couldn’t keep. Charlie nodded with a smile, but she couldn’t help feeling slightly disappointed. She wanted Taylor with her, but it wasn’t an ideal situation when she was drunk, simply because she struggled to hide her feelings for the other girl.

The plan was for Charlie to get a taxi to Isabelle’s, but Juliet insisted on giving her a ride, not wanting her to waste her money. She reluctantly agreed, she didn’t want to put Juliet out and she also didn’t want her brother to cause a scene in front of her.

“Wow, this is a big house,” Juliet said as they pulled up outside Isabelle’s place.

Charlie looked out of the window. “I suppose it is.”

“Well, be good,” she said. “And keep away from troublesome boys.”

“I will.” Charlie climbed out of the car after pulling out of a hug with Taylor’s mom. She waved her off before heading towards the house finding her friends in the kitchen.

The girls complimented each other as they hugged. Louise pulling away from Charlie last. “We want to apologize. We haven’t been very good friends lately. You needed us, and we weren’t there.”

“So tonight,” Tia added, “we are completely yours. No boys, just us girls.”

“Cheers to that,” Isabelle said raising her glass, her friends clinking them together before drinking the alcohol inside.

“Charlie-”

“Not right now, Jacob. I’m busy with my friends.” Charlie didn’t turn around, even when he called her name again.

Tia shook her head at her boyfriend. “She said not right now.”

He walked away without another word, a small sigh leaving his lips as he left. Charlie turned, feeling slightly bad as her brother walked away, but she wouldn’t allow him to get away with what he did. “I need another drink.”

The four girls were drunk in no time, singing loudly to the music and dancing around like they used to. Isabelle handed out shots while telling her friends how much she loved them. They barely had time to down the alcohol before Tia’s favourite song came on and she was dragging them into the lounge to dance.

Freddie tried to dance with Isabelle, but she dismissed him, telling him tonight was girls’ night. Not wanting her friends to feel like they were choosing her over their boyfriends’, Charlie pulled them to one side.
