Roy stood before Ravage, the last of the Sovereigns who had yet to swear an oath to come to him the moment they advanced to Black-Belt. The other Scions and Sovereigns remained on their hands and knees, their cores bound in shackles of their own making as their new overlord loomed above them. Ravage’s cold eyes fixed on Roy and a smile twisted his lips.

“In a way, we all have you to thank for this, Herald Leroy,” Ravage said, making Roy wince.

He’d been hoping that the man would at least keep his involvement in freeing him quiet, but it seemed Ravage wanted to paint a target on his back.

“You have more potential than anyone here, which is why I will award you with the honor of becoming my right hand,” Ravage continued. “You are not far from reaching the ranks of Scions, and with me as your new master, you will soon surpass all of these weaklings groveling before me.

“There is no need to thank me for my generosity. You will thank me for your undying loyalty and service. Your oath as a Sovereign is still too weak to be permanently binding, so, like the others, you will swear to come to me with new oaths upon your advancement.”

Roy spoke the oath, feeling bonds restricting around his Spirit as the promise was made. There would be no getting out of this and no holding himself back from advancing either. He could feel it. The oath would compel him to advance as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“So much for that loophole,” Geon grumbled.

Ravage half-turned, staring into the distance where he could presumably see something else.

“You are to clean up this mess and prepare for my return,” Ravage ordered. “I expect a welcome fit for the ruler of this world.”

With that said, Ravage tore a hole in space and disappeared. His towering presence reappeared thousands of miles away, but his power was so vast that it would be difficult to miss him.

“Come on,” Duncan said, tearing open a hole in space.

“You want to follow that monster?” Mororna exclaimed.

“Do whatever you like,” Duncan snarled. “We’re all his lapdogs now. The least we can do is see what else he’s up to.”

With that said, the leader of the Herald clan vanished into the rift. Roy wasn’t far behind, tearing open a hole in the chaos and following his father. He could sense a half-dozen others follow as well, though more than one remained where they were, too terrified to follow their new master to wherever it was he was going.

Roy emerged a moment later, over a terrifying scene. Tens of thousands of demons swarmed over a massive fortress, one that put even Mountain Moore to shame. In the sky, a dragon of titanic proportions twisted through the air. Its body was surrounded by dozens of demons, all of whom were so powerful that merely being in their presence made Roy’s body tremble.

The most terrifying part of this all was the fact that everything had come to a screaming halt, just as with the battle outside Mountain Moore.
