Chapter Eight

Maybe Tucker shouldn’t have agreed, but he hadn’t been able to help himself. Any time he was in Rigel’s presence, he wanted to do nothing more than do whatever he needed to do to stay in the big handsome man’s presence. Tucker didn’t know if he could believe Rigel’s claims about him believing they were special together—him being the one—Tucker couldn’t resist finding out.

Well, that was how he felt when in Rigel’s presence.

After Rigel had left, Tucker had begun to second-guess everything. True, the man had shown up with flowers and all the right words—and his kiss was electric—but was he really willing to turn his life upside down for him? Tucker was bisexual, after all. Couldn’t he order Rigel to never contact him again? Then, if he didn’t obey, he could get a restraining order.

That’d sure prove to my father I’m serious about... about... about being miserable and living a lie?

Shit!

Tucker knew that was the crux of the problem. Sure, he was bisexual and had enjoyed the attentions of women just as much as men, but he knew what Rigel was talking about. There really was something between them.

And if it hadn’t been for Father, I’d be all over figuring out if what’s between us could be long-term.

In all Tucker’s years, he’d never considered an actual relationship with a man before. He’d had two long-term relationships with girlfriends, but only one-night stands with guys. Tucker could admit, at least to himself, that it was because of his father’s bigotry.

Just never wanted to create waves. I’m already in hot water with him. Maybe now’s the time for change.

Except, what the hell will I do for a job then? How will I help out Amelia?

Tucker knew it wasn’t just his own future on the line.

Not anymore.

His doorbell ringing pulled Tucker out of his unproductive thoughts. It was too late to cancel anyway.

And I don’t even have Rigel’s number if I did have time to cancel.

Shaking his head at his oversight, Tucker headed to the door. He still couldn’t believe that Rigel had shown up at his door and called him handsome while he’d been in two-day-old and stained clothing. The man really had to be nuts.

Or really into me.

Tucker stopped before the closed door and rubbed the back of his neck. He knew opening the door could change his life. Was he ready for that?

The doorbell rang again... and Tucker just stood there.

“Tucker?” Rigel’s deep voice came through the door. “I know you’re there, handsome.” Tapping lightly, he urged, “Please open the door, baby. Let me help ease your fears.”

Unable to deny Rigel’s soft crooning tones, Tucker opened the door. He felt his breath leave his lungs as he took in the man standing before him. The man had swept his dark hair away from his face, tying it behind him and showing off his bronzed, aristocratic features. The polo shirt molded to his wide shoulders and defined pectorals. Even the jeans seemed to draw attention to his thickly muscled legs without appearing to be obscene.
