‘It’s a nice name,’ said Roly, straight-faced.

The fox looked pleased. He grinned at them, flashing his toothless gums.

‘D’you really think so?’ he said. ‘What a decent little rabbit you are, to be sure.’

Outside Biddy was still yelling.

‘That kid belong to you?’ asked Niffy.

‘Yes. She does,’ Ambrose said firmly.

‘And what d’you suppose is the matter with her?’

‘I expect she’s lost,’ said Ambrose. ‘It’s funny actually; they seem to get lost all the time. Even on their own property! Then I have to find them.’

‘Them? There’s more than one?’

‘There’s a big human as well.’

‘How do you find them?’
