The French Connections

The following morning, with only six days to go until The Event, Amanda’s most intense desire was to attempt to interview The Grange Ladies and Moffat, in the hope of discovering the elusive Viola. However, that would have to wait until tomorrow, when she would legitimately be there for work.

Meanwhile, there was the history of The Grange to be researched. The inspector has assured her that she would get some time alone back in the ballroom, to learn what she could from whomever or whatever she could manage to persuade to appear.

Sunken Madley library was the best place to start. Whatever Amanda found out there would be general rather than personal to Miss de Havillande’s family. Furthermore, it would provide her with knowledge that would show she had a genuine interest. Amanda hoped that this would encourage the sharing of inside information by Miss de Havillande. That was the theory, anyway.
