Chapter Six - Silas

Lance drops his jaw on the floor, his eyes wide as I finish detailing the day's events. A red streak is still visible across his cheeks from my blunt explanation of what took place immediately before my hasty forced exit.

"You expect me to believe you just had sex with one of the biggest music stars on the planet? I know you've been down lately, Silas, but that's a whopper."

"This is the security watch her team wears."

He examines the technology, still not convinced.

"Listen, I need your help. I'm certain the man who's been stalking her the last year is her head of security, the man named Garrett who threw me out. The sick bastard must have a camera in her bedroom. He went ballistic when he saw us together. He intends to harm her tonight, Lance. I have to protect her at all costs."

My head drops to my hands, guilt and shame flooding my overheating body. I failed Elissa by selfishly giving in to my skyrocketing sexual urges. Her exquisite naked body left me senseless, every inch of pale skin flawless. After fantasizing about her all damn day, I lost the war when our lips collided, disrespecting my mission to keep her body safe.

She's in grave danger now that Garrett's been angered by our tryst. The note found in her bedroom made clear the stalker's intentions tonight; he intends to hurt her. Or worse. Inaction isn't an option.

"We'll buy tickets if my credentials are denied, to get us into the venue. I'm aware of where each security team member is stationed, and I have a mental map of backstage. I can probably talk one of them into letting me pass. The question is how to get enough evidence to confirm Garrett's guilt."

"We can use military rank to muscle our way past security; that's easy. Maybe we can get one of the roadies in jail to flip on Garrett to save their own skin. That's worth a shot."

"Great thought, Lance, but there's not enough time for that. She goes on stage in two hours. We need to think like Garrett. What does he really want?"

"It's about more than sex. He could have easily taken advantage of her. Why is he acting out now?"

"Tonight's the last show of the tour. He won't see her for months. Elissa's burnt out from back to back albums and is considering taking an extended break. He's out of time."

We're talking when we could be there in person formulating our plan.

"Let's go. Tell Aiden I'm sorry for ruining date night."

Lance calls his fiancé on the way to the parking garage, failing to convince his beautiful real estate broker we're interested in Elissa's music, but bribing her permission with dinner at Tony's by the Sea.

I reach into the yellow vehicle to grab the credentials above the sun visor. This will allow us to park within a few hundred yards of the motorcoach without drawing suspicion if they still work. Garrett will be looking for the Bug if he suspects I'd try to regain access.
