FRIED GARLIC SHRIMP

Serves 3 / Prep Time: 15 minutes / Fry Time: 10 minutes

Deep-fried breaded shrimp has been popular in the United States since packaged frozen shrimp came on the market after World War II. Making this dish in the air fryer saves about 20 minutes, as well as a ton of calories and fat. Garlic butter sauce gives the dish even more flavor.

FOR THE SHRIMP

Oil, for spraying

1 pound medium raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 cup panko bread crumbs

2 tablespoons granulated garlic

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

FOR THE GARLIC BUTTER SAUCE

½ cup unsalted butter

2 teaspoons granulated garlic

¾ teaspoon salt (omit if using salted butter)

TO MAKE THE SHRIMP

1 . Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Line the air fryer basket with parchment and spray lightly with oil.

2 . Place the shrimp and melted butter in a zip-top plastic bag, seal, and shake well, until evenly coated.

3 . In a medium bowl, mix together the bread crumbs, garlic, salt, and black pepper.

4 . Add the shrimp to the panko mixture and toss until evenly coated. Shake off any excess coating.

5 . Place the shrimp in the prepared basket and spray lightly with oil.

6 . Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping and spraying with oil after 4 to 5 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.

TO MAKE THE GARLIC BUTTER SAUCE

7 . In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, garlic, and salt and microwave on 50% power for 30 to 60 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds, until completely melted.

8 . Serve the shrimp immediately with the garlic butter sauce on the side for dipping.

Fry Fact: If you need to quickly thaw frozen shrimp, place them in a bowl of cool water.
