Storym walked over and sat next to his Demonas Amaté as close

as he could get without sharing the same space. Nick chuckled and

leaned back against the arm Storym set on the couch behind him.

“Jack, you’ve accidently stumbled into a world that—”

“Stumbled, hell,” Jack snapped as he glared across the room at

Clagh. “I was dragged.”

“Okay, you were dragged into a world that you have no

knowledge of.”

“I’m starting to get that.”

“This is Jinnistan, the world below the surface.”

Jack’s eyebrows shot up. “The what?”

“You and I are considered surface dwellers because we were born

on the surface of the earth.” Nick waved his hand toward Storym and

Clagh. “They were born here in Jinnistan. They are not human as you and I would think of it. They are Djini.”

“Dj—what?”

“Djini.” Nick had a grimace on his face as he glanced at Storym.

“They are demon warriors.”

Jack’s face drained. “Real demons?” he whispered.

“Yes, real demons, but not the kind you read about in books or see

on the movie screen. Djini are the good demons.”

“Good demon implies that there are bad demons.”

“Remember those guys we were fighting on the surface, the ones

that can’t be killed with bullets? They are called Shayatin, or shadow demons. They’re the bad guys.”

“The Shayatin are demons that have turned rogue,” Storym added.

“They are malicious and have become evil, breaking our most sacred

laws. They are the vampires of your legends that go to the surface to

feed on humans.”

Jack swallowed hard. “Feed?”

“They drain humans of blood.”
