Ayana

Mu – Fourteen orbits ago

The following rise Ayana woke up in an unfamiliar hut. The door creaked open and sunlight reluctantly entered. Ayana stirred, mir lips dry and cracked; mir jaw aching from grinding mir teeth.

“Water,” the rearer said, placing a small woven cup in the thin sunbeam. At the sound of what mu needed most, Ayana scuttled on mir hands and knees towards the light. The rearer swiftly closed the door and the hut was plunged back into darkness. Disoriented, Ayana reached for the water but it wasn’t there. Knowing the water would be leaking from the poorly woven cup, mu scrambled around trying to find it. The back of mir hand struck the cup and it toppled over. With a wail, Ayana quickly brought it to mir lips but it barely wet mir tongue. Desperate, mu wiped mir palm on the wet, dusty floor and sucked as much moisture as mu could from mir fingers.
