SEVEN

The smell of food cooking startled Mia awake. She sat up in bed, gripping the sheet to her chest, and her eyes moved around the room taking in her surroundings. She took in the more masculine decor, and spotted a shirt Nolan laid across the edge of the bed past her feet.

“Oh, right,” she whispered, sagging against the pillows when she remembered she was still with Nolan and her son hadn’t taken to shenanigans in the kitchen.

She let the sheet go, and made her way into the bathroom naked. She freshened up and slipped on Nolan’s shirt. She shrugged her shoulders and soaked in his scent, then sat on the bed and carefully untied his braid, letting her hair fall free in waves. She stole a moment to check in with Zander, realizing that it was out of the ordinary for her to be out, but not for him to be with her mother.

Quietly she made her way down the hall and into the kitchen to find Nolan coming in from the back balcony with a paper tucked under his arm.

“Good morning.” She beamed up at him, kissing him softly as he walked by. She continued making her coffee as Nolan pressed oven buttons on the stovetop panel.

“Good morning to you. I wanted to let you sleep.” He leaned against the opposite counter, sipping his coffee.

“I feel like I ran a marathon.” She smiled at him over the edge of her own coffee cup. “For a week.”

“What can I say, I can’t keep my hands off you.” His eyes glinted, remembering them each waking the other up through the night for just a little more.

She hummed happily, closing the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his waist. “You’ll hear no complaints coming from me.” Mia leaned up and kissed Nolan softly. He hummed happily and wrapped his arm around her middle.

“Is there something special you’d like to do today?” Nolan fingered a lock of her hair, inching his way closer and invading her space. “Breakfast is in the oven.”

“It smells good. I’m sure it needs to meet your approval,” Mia teased.

He kissed her neck. “I’ll take it into consideration.”

“Part of me wants to go back to the port, it really was beautiful on the water yesterday.” She sighed and leaned into him. “But, you know what I really want to do?”

“Am I going to have to spank it out of you?”

“Now you’re just promising a good time. I would love to watch a movie, something mundane I know.”

“Nothing like a little peace on a Sunday morning.”

“Is there anything you’d like to do?”

“I have many scandalous ideas, little butterfly.” Nolan claimed her mouth, his arm tightening around her waist and pressing her body against his.

Gasping from his kiss, Mia leaned against the kitchen wall, tipping her face up to kiss, across Nolan’s neck. She nipped playfully at his jaw, Nolan fisted her hair and her surprised gasp turned into a wanton moan.

“Are you good this morning?” He pulled back and met her eyes.
