Lansdale and Dallas 1963

Some readers may be familiar with reports that Edward Lansdale was in Dallas on November 22, 1963, heading up a small team of snipers, highly skilled in assassination techniques. The reports about Lansdale originated with L. Fletcher Prouty, former OSS and U.S. Air Force officer. Prouty, who worked for years at the Pentagon, frequently interacting with the CIA, said that one day he looked at a photograph taken on November 22, 1963 in Dallas and realized that he was gazing at Lansdale.

Prouty, who knew Lansdale from the early 1950s in Manila, was so convinced that the photo is of Edward G. Lansdale that he wrote a letter to New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison in March 1990. (Why he waited until then to write is uncertain. Perhaps he had not seen the photograph until then.) Prouty informs Garrison that he had known Lansdale “since 1952 in the Philippines” and that he had met Col. Valeriano, among others, in Manila with Lansdale.
