Chapter 14

“No. Not sleepy, Daddy.” Sitting up straighter, I gave him the bestest smile and finished my milk.

Daddy gave me a big smile too and nodded ’cause I was so good and so smart. “Okay, then how about we cuddle on the couch and you show me your favorite cartoons.”

Oh, cartoons.

Nodding, I wiggled and rocked back and forth, trying to hurry Daddy. He shook his head and laughed. “Oh, are you ready? Are you sure you don’t want more spaghetti?”

That was a hard question.

It was so good.

Daddy had chopped it up too so I could use my princess spoon and he’d cut up meat that looked like little hot dogs. He’d even put it on my princess plate. “All done, Daddy.”

That was sad, but my tummy was pouting ’cause it was full.

Daddy kissed my head as he got up from the table. He knew it was sad too ’cause he nodded seriously as he picked up the plates. “It’s okay. I’m going to put the rest in the refrigerator for later.”

Yes, more noodles.

Oh, manners.

“Thank you, Daddy.” Daddy gave me a big smile as he put our plates in the sink.

“Such a good boy.” Daddy’s smile made me all tingly and wiggly. I was going to burst, but Daddy distracted me.

Sneaky Daddy.

“I need your help, sweetheart.” Oh, I loved being a helper. “What does a wonderful boy like you need to get before we cuddle and watch cartoons?”

Daddy came back to the table and crouched down. “Do you want a stuffed animal or a binkie?”

“A stuffy?” I had lots of stuffies but binkies… “Daddy?”

My wiggles were back.

Daddy moved his hands to my legs and rubbed my legs, trying to get the wiggles out. His smile helped too. “Yes, sweetheart?”

Leaning closer, I whispered low. “Do you like binkies?”

Daddy gave me his thoughtful face and cocked his head. “I don’t remember ever using one, so I don’t know.”

My wiggles came back as I giggled and it was so funny Daddy had to hold me in the chair.

I almost felled.

“No, Daddy.” He was so silly. “My binkie.”

“Oh.” Daddy was so funny.

He shrugged and kissed my cheek. “I think you have lots of pretty binkies and I can’t wait to see which one you pick.”

He was the best Daddy ever.

He made me so excited my feet got the wiggles too. “I do.”

Daddy looked like he was so proud of me he’d burst and I got another Daddy kiss on my cheek. Then he gave me his serious Daddy face. “Nothing my feisty boy wants will make me uncomfortable. The only thing I saw online that I didn’t like was punishment spankings.”

Daddy’s face scrunched up like he was worried or his tummy hurt.

“I watched one scene and I only got a few minutes into that.” Daddy’s eyes were sad before he smiled and chased away the bad thoughts. “Binkies and toys and baths and diapers and all those kinds of things would make me happy because they mean I would get to take care of you.’’

Daddy gave me a hug and another Daddy kiss and I got another big smile when I hugged him tight again.
