When Brianna woke, it was to an empty bed. She climbed out of the bed looking for her robe, but she remembered it was in the living room. She walked down the hall to the living room and found her robe tossed over the couch. She grabbed it and moved to the kitchen.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning, Beauty,” Bryson said from the fridge. When the door closed, he held a bottle of orange juice, then searched for a glass.

She was going to ask where Derek was, but when he stepped back only in a pair of pants, revealing his muscular frame, she lost track of her thoughts.

“Where are the cups?”

She walked over to where she kept the glasses and set one on the counter for him.

He watched her the entire time. “How was your trip?”

She grunted. “Exactly how I thought it would be.”

He took a sip of orange juice before offering her some. She shook her head.

“I wanted to talk to you about the other night.”

“We don’t have to…”

He raised his hand to stop her. “I was wrong for letting you go. I shouldn’t have pressured Derek into agreeing, and we damn sure shouldn’t have let you leave like that.”

“I deserved it. I was acting like a brat.”

“No, you were acting like a woman who had something taken from her. We should have pulled you close instead of pushing you away when all you needed was understanding. You deserved a chance like the one you gave us.” She looked away, and it only made him come closer to put his face in front of hers. “I was scared. I wanted to cut you off before you could cut us off. You have the potential to break my heart.”

“I could have double the heartbreak. I don’t feel strongly about one more than the other. I couldn’t even just be with one of you at this point. We’re in too deep. If I can’t have both of you, then I won’t have either of you.”

His chest swelled. Finally, a woman who got it. She was more than they could ask for. And to think he almost ran her away. “I know it wasn’t fair to give up so easily. I admit that, Brianna. I was a hypocrite, and I was wrong. Do you forgive me?”

“I forgave you last night, or do you not remember?” She wrapped her arms around his neck, placing a kiss on his lips.

“Oh, I remember. Forgive me again.” He kissed her back, pulling her tight against his body.

“Looks like I’m right on time.” Derek walked into the kitchen from her hall bathroom.

“What are you doing up so early? I was wondering where you were.”

“I can never sleep when I have a lot on my mind. I was already out here, sitting with Bryson.”

“I’m going to go get our overnight bags out of the car.” Bryson dismissed himself, picking up his shirt and heading out the front door.

“You want to talk about it?” Brianna asked.

“Will you get mad at me if I do? It seems every time I talk to you, I say the wrong thing, and we end up arguing.
