Chapter Nine

The Wolf and the Dove

After that night things were different. They attended several balls a week, each one with Lizzy going as a guest and not his maid, but their dynamic always remained in place.

They were subtle about it in public. In fact, they barely spoke to one another at all. She would address him as Mr. Darcy in groups and as Sir in private. But otherwise it was too hard to do much else.

Since she always behaved, their nights would always end in his room. Sometimes she was allowed to cum, sometimes not. But she always got to swallow him cum, feel his orgasm rip through him, his cock throb in her mouth.

He was kind and gentle and fun. He was not like Darcy at all. Which was probably a good thing. Who wanted to marry the brooding master of Pemberley?

She did begin to wonder what kind of lover Wickham was. Would he be as kind and gentle in bed as he was in conversation? Would she enjoy that?

Somehow, she doubted it, but marrying someone who could be good company was always better than marrying someone because they knew how to make her cum.

And there was no reason she should be thinking about marrying Darcy, because that wasn’t on the table as it were.

Still, no matter how she tried not to, whenever she found herself entertaining thoughts of marrying Wickham, she would end up comparing him and Darcy.

On Halloween night, Pemberley was throwing its Halloween ball.

Ellen had gone above and beyond to make it as wonderful as possible. Lizzy stared, open-mouthed, at the decorations. She had gone for a theme rather than simply splashing orange and black everywhere.

The theme was the woods. Deep, dark, scary, and foreboding. The front steps were lined with knotted and bare trees, glowing eyes in the bushes, the fluttering of wings overhead. Through the front doors, which were decorated to look like twisted branches, the main hall bore more gnarled trees, leaves scattered over the floor, wispy ghosts trailed far above. The lights were low and flickering. The dining hall was decorated like a witch’s cookie house. Several parlours had become other scary tales.

But the main ballroom; that was the best of all. Lizzy, strolling around while guests arrived, walked through the doors set with tall mirrors, and found herself in a fairy tale nightmare.
