Apartment cleaned, showered, and dressed in her sexiest little black dress, Erika gave herself one last glance in the mirror to assure herself everything was perfect.

Buzz. Buzz.

She crossed to the door and answered the apartment security call button.

Raul’s voice flowed through the intercom. “Madam, your chariot and escort await to whisk you away on an enchanted evening.”

“Then I’ll lower the drawbridge. Three. Two. Two. Oh.” She pressed the enter button and waited until she heard a knock on her door.

When she peeked through the peep hole, a yellow rose filled her vision. Trying not to grin like the proverbial Cheshire Cat, she unlocked the latch and opened the door.

“Good evening.” His soft low voice tickled her ears. He held the flower.

When she reached out to take the rose, a sharp sting in her neck made her wince. The rose blurred.
