He had seen pretty before, but nothing like the transformational beauty that walked into the classroom. The confident-but-not-arrogant glide to each stride. The unassuming outfit of bell-bottom blue jeans with the floral Woodstock hippie shirt. A combination most couldn't pull off, but it added to her mystic essence.

She turned her head, once, twice, three times in search of the perfect seat for the lecture. On the third rotation, he locked on her deep brown eyes as she gazed the room. In that moment she may not have noticed him, but he had noticed her and was instantly in love.

Within the span of ten seconds when she walked into the lecture hall until she found her seat, that was all it took for him. When the lecture began, he wasn't interested in the topic or the professor. He was only interested in how he could connect with this girl, this newly minted woman who was far different than any woman he had ever seen.

In the background he heard the professor's voice drone on and the projector flip slides, but for him it was as if time was standing still. He watched as she scribbled notes in her five-star notebook, flipping page after page to keep up with the lecture. She flexed her fingers a couple times to work out the cramps and went right back to her note taking. Lost in the moment and in his thoughts, he never heard the bell ring. Only the back of the woman seated behind his desire broke his trance when she stood and began gathering her belongings.

He shook his head a couple of times to ground himself back into reality. He closed his notebook on an empty sheet of paper. By the time he'd looked back up, just as silently as she had walked into the room and taken her seat, she had silently disappeared in the crowd to exit. Kicking himself for missing the opportunity to find out her name, he realized he would see her again in two days for the next lecture.

However, as luck would have it, his next unofficial encounter with the mysterious woman would come the following day.

He rushed into Cubic's, an on-campus eatery that served sandwiches, coffee, pastries, and anything else that was great for a grab-and-go meal. When he took his place in line, he immediately recognized the girl from the previous day. Today she wore her auburn hair down, dropping well beneath her shoulders, a graphic shirt that said, Save the Whales, a pair of blue jeans and brown boots that came up over her calves.

The cashier handed her the food she ordered, and she was off to find a seat. He lost track of her as she turned the corner in the packed establishment, and shortly thereafter the cashier asked with a smile, "How can I help you today?" He placed his order, but his mind was elsewhere. He was determined he wouldn't let another opportunity slip.

After the cashier handed him the egg sandwich on a croissant and a bottle of Aquafina water, he walked in the direction of the girl.
