Chapter Eight

Rae sat at her kitchen table as Ruby slowly paced back and forth, explaining to her of the events that went down yesterday at the gas station; Hannah was soundly asleep in the spare bedroom. I’ll go down tomorrow morning and chat with him.” Rae yawned again and stretched her arms out. “Besides, it’ll give me time to clean up and sleep. I’m gross and I smell.”

Ruby sat down beside Rae, “I like it.”

Rae smiled back, then leaned forward and reached for Ruby’s hand, “I missed you.”

Ruby slid off her chair and slid onto Rae’s lap and wrapped her arms around her neck. “Me too.” Ruby lowered her mouth to Rae’s and touched her lips to her own.
