âMy Friend Mr. Nobodyâ
I love being on the set as this show progresses. How great it is to see Angela have the chance to demonstrate her acting ability. Believe me, she is talented and is excellent in one of the better episodes of Lost in Space. The script is imaginative as written by Jackson Gillis and very well directed by Paul Stanley. John Williams, who composed theme music for our series, also contributed incidental music for this particular episode.
John and Don are drilling (what else) for material to be used as fuel. They are about to set off an explosion just as Penny wanders into the area. It looks like Penny likes to wander, whether with or without a turtle to carry her. For a young lass, she is really independent and gets around. Boom! The explosive goes off, and John saves her life. Good job, John. If she were my daughter, I would have done the same. Well, sheâs not my daughter. If she were, she would be listening to tapes made by âThe Whoâ instead of âThe Beatlesâ and wouldnât be wandering around because she got so bored with the banal shouts of âYeah, Yeah,Yeah.â But let that go. Thank God she is safe. I like her an awful lot, and her attitude during this tumultuous flight has a calming effect on me when I get riled up because of Smith. Plus, she is very pretty, and as far as Iâm concerned if she were ten years older sheâd give Judy a run for her money.
After this incident, Penny returns to the spaceship. Feeling ignored, she wanders off again. She casually discovers a pool of water, and being thirsty, she kneels to take a sip only to be shocked as the water magically rises to her lips. At the same time, a voice rings out from a nearby cave. Penny enters it.
Now, you would think that sheâd learned a lesson about entering caves after she and Will got trapped in a cave during a previous adventure. Anyway, Penny goes in, and a large rock closes behind her. Better luck this time, though, as she is able to leave.
Back at the campsite, Pennyâs experience falls on deaf ears. Everyone thinks she is making up a story. This upsets her so much that she returns to the cave the next day. You have good reason to be upset, Penny. Anyone who doesnât believe that the pool of water you drank from works like a drinking fountain or you made contact with a bodiless voice just doesnât have any common sense. Will proved that when he said that you were talking to Mr. Nobody. To tell you the truth, I think common sense for all the Robinsons and Don went out the porthole when Dr. Smith and the robot joined us, long before your friend Mr. Nobody showed up.
Back in the cave, Penny is teaching her new friend how to talk. Mr. Nobody, as she now calls him, gives her some gems as a gesture of friendship.
