A month later, Eva heard back from Amanda. “I interviewed Doug and Lucy. If Justin was with them at the time we would have filed this case as a moderate risk and opened services on them. However, since he is with you, he is in a safe place and this case is closed with a safety plan in place.”

“Amanda, Justin has to go back there in 3 weeks.”

“Well, if it starts back up, he will have to make sure to speak up.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“No. I’m sorry. We did all that we could do.”

Eva hung up the phone and called Max.

“Can we please file for another change of domicile? I can’t send him back.”

“You know it probably won’t go anywhere. But I will send a request for the CPS reports and do what I can.”

“Will I have to send him back meanwhile?”

“Yes. You can’t just keep him,” Max retorted. Eva could tell he was frustrated with this case. She just hoped he wouldn’t quit on her.
