Waiting to destroy the world is so boring!

Alexandra was bored and a little unsettled. She wandered through the halls of her parents’ home. It was an old home, probably 150 years old.

There were a series of guest cottages strewn throughout the fifty-acre estate, but Alexandra still felt like it was too small. The main house was only seven thousand square feet. How was she supposed to live in such a hovel?

Her main home back in LA was twenty-two thousand square feet. This one didn’t even have a bowling alley. She was seriously roughing it here. There were only two pools and fourteen bathrooms, and her bathroom was half the size of her bathroom at home. She supposed it had everything she supposed she wanted, but she had once held a dance party in her bathroom for seventy friends. She’d barely be able to fit thirty friends in the one she was using right now.

But these were the sacrifices one made on the way to great power.

Of course, she wasn’t entirely sure that she was on the way to great power. After Kofi’s little demonstration, they had all celebrated, thinking that things had actually worked. They believed that they had released Zeus’s essence. But Zeus had yet to make an appearance, and Alexandra was beginning to doubt that they had actually done what they said they were going to do. Perhaps Kofi was playing her.

But in her gut, she didn’t think he was. He believed that Zeus’s essence had been released. Though it was possible the boy wasn’t as powerful as he thought. Perhaps it was just an earthquake perfectly timed to give the boy cover.

She sighed and stepped outside. Most of the guests had taken to the guest cottages, but a few had brought large campers that were strewn out across the lawns.

Honestly, it looked like a campout. A really pampered one—many of them had brought their own servants.

But Alexandra really hoped she didn’t have to do this for much longer. They were all wealthy, but they were not her people. Many of them were from her parents’ generation, and she certainly didn’t have anything in common with them except for a desire for power.

She sighed and turned toward the pool, knowing that was where she would find her brother. Sure enough, he was doing his laps, cutting through the pool at a heart-pounding pace. He could have made the Olympics if they didn’t drug test. What a shame.

She walked over to the buffet table and poured herself a glass of champagne. She took a long sip, and then wind blew up out of nowhere, slinging her hair across her face. A man appeared, standing just six feet away from her. She choked on the champagne, coughing as her eyes watered.

The man stared at her, his expression inscrutable.

Alexandra’s eyes widened, and she realized exactly who it was who was standing in front of her.

She dropped to one knee, bowing her head. “Zeus.”

“You are the one who called me?”

Alexandra nodded, keeping her gaze averted, not sure what the protocol was when being faced with Zeus himself.
