‘Morning.' I sit up too fast, surprised to hear Gabriel's voice. He laughs as I pull my duvet up around my neck and groan. ‘Here. I made you a coffee. Thought you might need it after the bottle of whiskey you and Amara polished off last night.'

‘Thank you.' I take it gratefully and drink it down. He gestures to the end of the bed where there are several bags heaped up in piles, as well as boxes. ‘What's all that?'

‘Well, I couldn't sleep, so I did some online shopping last night. You don't have many clothes, especially since you accidentally set fire to them all the other night with your nightmare. So I brought you some. An amazing thing, online shopping. You click a few buttons and someone deliveries what you want to your door a few hours later.' He looks thrilled as he gets to his feet and tosses me one of the many, many bags. ‘Jeans. Long sleeves. Boots. And just a few dresses. If there's anything you don't like, or that doesn't fit, let me know and I'll change them for you. But…' he looks to his feet but has the cheekiest grin ever. ‘Can you still wear that?' he asks, nodding to the top I'm wearing. ‘I love that you sleep in my clothes.' I lower the duvet and he's right, I'm sleeping in one of the tops he leant me my first day here.

‘You didn't have to do this' I'm so taken aback by his kindness.

‘No. But I wanted to.' He gives a small bow and doesn't hide how happy he is as I smile. ‘Merry Christmas Eve, Beautiful.'
