“Wait, let me try,” said Max. He grabbed one of Ren’s many screwdrivers and moved over to the robot, dropping to the floor as it swerved toward him. As he stood up, the robot swung an arm out; Max ducked just in time for it to miss his head, but there was a metallic clank as his sunglasses clattered to the ground.

“Oh, now you’ve made me mad!” Max told the robot. He ducked another punching arm and jammed the screwdriver into the robot’s power control with a shower of sparks. The robot jolted upright for a moment, and then collapsed to the floor.

“You short-circuited it,” said Alek with admiration.

“I just gave it a bit of a shock,” laughed Max as he placed his sunglasses back on his head.

“Is everyone okay?” asked Ren Nagano, getting out of his special suit and running over to the RBI agents. “I’ve never known it do that before. I just can’t think what caused the robot to behave that way!”

Max and Alek both looked at Zia.

“I think it might have been me,” admitted Zia, sheepishly. She explained to Ren about her magnetism.

“Of course,” he said, understanding. “Magnetic fields would affect the technology built into the suit.”

“I know,” nodded Max. “I try not to let Zia anywhere near my inventions.”

The agents agreed to come back the next day when Ren had rebooted his robot, to see it in action once more—and this time Zia would stay out of the way!
