Chapter Fifteen

After the last spasm released Elijah, he fell back into the mattress, gasping. Shattered.

It wasn’t only that at bloody last, he had reached a climax with another person after so long. It wasn’t just that somehow, he’d happened upon a fastidious accountant whose mouth was as wickedly talented as his industry acumen was sharp.

Elijah’s eyes were closed, the chamber dim, and the air in the room carried the December chill, yet he existed in a plane filled with butter-yellow glowing light and searing heat. He’d arrived at Tweed’s house with a myriad of insulting and humorous retorts to hurl, nearly certain he would be sent away. Oh, he’d harbored no belief that his rejoinders upon being rejected would feel satisfactory, nor did he have any plan for how he would lick his wounds afterwards. He only knew he had to go to Isaac; he had to try.

Feeling Isaac nearby, he reached blindly, pulling him close. Words were beyond him, and in a flash, in the back of his mind, he remembered feeling this way once before.

Clobbered in the skull by a flying crate, he’d fallen unconscious onto the deck of the first ship he’d served on as a gangly adolescent. Coming to was just like this, a sense he’d been minding his business in life only to have everything change in a flash. Of course, that time, the radiating heat and light were real. When he’d finally peeled open his eyelids, behind the constellation of concerned heads gathered round was the sun, shining relentlessly as they sailed on a spice run to the Dutch East Indies.

This time, too, awareness returned gradually, but his head wasn’t throbbing in pain. Instead, glory and wellbeing pulsed with every heartbeat. “Thank you,” he whispered, nuzzling into Isaac.

Soon their lips melded once more, and their tongues tangled; he tasted himself mixed in with Isaac’s essence. The intimacy and perfection of it sent a tingling rush of arousal through his spine, stiffening his cock again and taking him by surprise. He was experienced in the sensual arts, damn it, not some untried boy, unduly moved by coming in someone’s mouth!

Yes, being sucked by Tweed had been deeply pleasurable and yet…it had not just been about pleasure.

“I want to take care of you,” Isaac had declared, and so he had.

He’d also promised to do something else…

“Fill me,” Elijah urged.

Groaning, Isaac sat up. “We left the oil in my coat. Wait here, my knight.”

It felt like Elijah had been waiting his entire life for this, but looking around the tidy bedchamber and breathing in Isaac’s spice and Bourbon vanilla scent, this last delay felt interminable. With no one else and in none of his travels had he known such a desire to be possessed down to his core.

He’d encountered men for whom buggery meant submission or roughness. Humiliation, even. Neither the giving nor receiving of that had appealed to him. Over the years, he had rutted in others and offered his own arse if he deemed circumstances safe, but never had it seemed more than a transaction, a means for intercourse.
