After flicking off the bedside light, I turned and gathered Carol in my arms. The feeling of complete and utter contentment rolling through me was indescribable. Carol wasn’t only my wife, she was my life.

I kissed the top of her head. “I love you.”

She lifted her cheek from my shoulder and met my eyes. I saw nothing but the same devotion I felt for her reflected back at me.
