Gomes looked serious as he stepped inside and walked through to the lounge. His large frame waited patiently to be offered a seat. When Quinn inclined a hand towards the nearest, he sat down.

“How are you both doing?” he asked just as Natasha joined them.

“We have a lot to process,” Quinn replied trying to keep her emotions in check. Her mind still whirring with all that Natasha had said. “Coffee?”

“No, thank you, just had one.” He smiled. “So, let me get straight to the point, Mr. Miles was arrested this morning as he attempted to leave the hospital. At which point, he collapsed and went back into hospital, so I am unable to question him as yet, but we’re used to these kinds of games.”

“You think he was faking?” Quinn asked.

“I’m not a doctor, so I’ll wait for their report, but off the record, they’ve already given me the heads up that Mr. Miles is fine and shouldn’t be having any more health issues that stop him from facing the consequences of his actions.”

“Right, so he’s going to jail?” Quinn continued to question, aware that Natasha was yet to speak. She glanced around at her and noticed the tight-lipped grimace on her face. Her eyes steely as she stared at the wall behind Gomes.

“If it was down to me? I’d throw away the key, but that’s something we will just have to wait and see, he’s a wealthy man of good standing, and unfortunately, there are no priors. There is no evidence that he has done anything like this before.”

“He beat the shit out of her for years,” Quinn raved, rising up out of her seat to stand. She paced the room, breathing heavily until she could get herself back under control. That was when she looked at Natasha and saw the fear across her face. Her feet pulled up; arms wrapped tightly around her knees. “Shit, Tash, I’m so sorry.” She dropped to her own knees in front of Natasha and cursed herself when she flinched away. “I didn’t mean to…I just…” When there was no movement from Natasha, Quinn turned back to Gomes. “Do you see this? He did this.” She was angry, angry that Nick Miles had caused so much pain to Natasha, and now, by proxy, she was going to lose her, because Natasha was right, she wasn’t in any fit state to be in another relationship, no matter how much Quinn would love her.
