Isabelle shook her head at Tessa and Manny’s teasing. It had taken a while for her to get over her jealousy of Tessa being everyone’s favorite, but Isabelle loved her cousin. It was hard not to. Now that Isabelle had come up with the Reborn serum, she was more secure in her own place in the Clan. For the longest time, Isabelle felt less than, even though she was an accomplished doctor. Being passed off to Maria and Rico had done a number on her younger self, and it still hurt, though not as much as it used to. Having a wonderful mate who adored both her and her son helped more than anything.

Connor was off somewhere reading. Priscilla was in the kitchen with Myra, and the rest of the adults were all hanging out in the sunken living area when Rafael’s burner phone rang. Frey and Julian were the only ones with the number, but she and the others only had to wait a few seconds to know which one was calling.

“Hello?” After a beat, Rafe’s face darkened. “Frey, I’m putting you on speaker.” It was something he often did so that Kaya could listen in. All their moods darkened as Frey recounted what happened at the Pen. When he announced Kallisto was dead, a small sense of satisfaction bloomed in Isabelle’s chest. If that made her a bad half-blood, she didn’t care. The woman had wreaked too much havoc in their lives, and she wouldn’t be missed. Except she would by this Eden character. Even from the grave, Kallisto was giving them grief.

“What about Gabriel? Did he get caught up in the fighting?” Isabelle knew her brother could take care of himself, but she still worried.

“He’s fine. He stayed in his room the whole time, even going so far as to close his door when it opened. Listen, Isabelle, Lucy’s going to don a prosthetic and pretend to be Kallisto,” Frey said. “She’s going to need your help.”

“Mine?”

“Yes. Since you spent more time around Kallisto than anyone else, we hoped you would be willing to share what you know of how the human behaved. Lucy will need to sell the act.”

Isabelle reached out for Dante’s hand. “Yeah, sure. I can do that.” She didn’t want to relive her time being held in Greece, but if it would help capture the human responsible for all their latest woes, she would. Isabelle would do anything for their Clan. It was nice to be needed.

“Is my brother okay with this scheme?” Tessa asked.

Frey groaned. “It was his idea. Honestly, it surprised me, but knowing Lucy’s special abilities, it does make sense she would be the one to do this.”

“I bet War would disagree,” Tessa said.

“Probably, but her father also knows Lucy’s a grown female with a fierce mate. Tamian won’t let anything happen to her.”

Isabelle imagined Connor as an adult and doing something dangerous. It wouldn’t matter how old he was, half-blood or not. She would always worry about him, and she had no doubt Warryck felt the same about Lucy.
