Malden pulled a shotgun from behind the bar. The few patrons in the place stopped their conversations and turned to watch the show. The music didn't stop like it did in the movies, too bad. Malden was probably running it from an iPod behind the counter.
"Whoa," Silas said holding up his hands. "It's me Silas."
"The same Silas that got roaring drunk the last time he was here and practically destroyed the place? The same Silas Robb that beat the crap out of half my patrons and killed the other half on that same night?"
"Well..." started Silas.
"The same Silas that deleted all the country songs off my iPod?"
"Well, come onâ¦country? I'd call that a favor."
Malden came around the bar and walked up to Silas. He slowly put the barrel of the shotgun against Silas' jaw, then spoke slowly and quietly. "The same Silas that slept with my wife?"
"Hey, I never did that; wait was it that same night? I mean I was a little trashed."
Malden's fist came around and smashed into Silas' jaw. The punch by itself wouldn't have meant much to him in any normal situation, but his day had been far from normal. The punch, combined with his other wounds, staggered him back. He might have deserved this, but the reunion was not going according to his plans.
"Come on, Malden. I did you a favor when you caught us. Everybody knew your wife was fucking half your customers. You knew it too."
Malden looked away thoughtfully for a moment. "That is true..."
"At least I have an excuse. I mean, I had to have been completely wasted to sleep with her. I mean come on, you know what she looks like," Silas said.
"That's true too," Malden said. "What about my country music?"
"Look if that's your thing, go for it, I promise I won't delete the songs off your iPod. Although, I do think you should try some old-school stuff; at least that stuff has some history to it. At least change it to Zac Brown Band or something?"
Malden sized him up once more. "You gonna kill anyone?"
"Probably not, but no guarantees, itâs kinda my thing. But if I have to, I promise to try and take it outside."
"And who's gonna pay for all the damages you did last time?" Malden asked.
"That would be my associateâs job. I'll give you Mortimerâs contact info so you can send the bill to him." Silas leaned forward as though they were conspirators. "He's got tons of money so feel free to give yourself a little something extra for the trouble."
Malden smiled and lowered the gun. "Welcome back Silas. Never really like the bitch anyway."
"Oh, so you guys split up?"
"Nah, we're still together. Don't think I could find anyone else that would put up with my shit anyway."
Malden laughed heartily and slapped Silasâ shoulder as he guided him toward the bar. Silas winced, Malden had picked his bad shoulder.
"Little tender there Silas? You look kinda beat up," Malden asked.
"Well you know how it is, you go
