Canon 9 asserts that “if anyone says that in the three sacraments, namely, baptism, confirmation and order, a character, namely, a spiritual and indelible mark, is not imprinted on the soul, because of which they cannot be repeated, let him be anathema.”9 The term used here is order (ordine) and does not specify anything more (or less) about the character associated with holy orders.
