CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

Lucy greeted me at the door when I arrived back from my trip to Chicago. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to get anything done with all the meowing that was coming from her. She needed some attention so I put my things down and headed to the kitchen to get some dinner for the two of us. She had finished her Meow Mix cat food in a flash so I put the TV on to entertain her while I made a salad and sandwich for myself. The meowing continued and I could tell that if I wanted time to eat, the Animal Planet program needed to be on to entertain Lucy.

Because of the time difference between Chicago and the West Coast, I was up early the next morning. A hot steamy shower was calling me as I made my way to the bathroom. I loved my newly remodeled bathroom. The soft blue-green ocean colors made any tensions in my body dissolve. Inside the shower, I had one of those big square shower heads installed along with some jets that sprayed from the side walls. When the water was on full blast, it was almost like getting a massage. I did some of my best thinking just standing and being pelted for twenty minutes. My mind drifted as the water cascaded down my body and then it hit me. I had an idea for the Birchim case. I dried off, patted Lucy on the head, and headed to work.
