No more lies.

The relief, the want, the desire that soared through my body at Daria’s admission was overwhelming. I was a psychologist and no stranger to research, yet for almost four months now I’d been ignoring whole swaths of evidence indicating a glaring fact.

I didn’t want her because of our complications. I wanted her despite these complications, was willing to risk more than I ever thought possible to kiss her one more time.

I ran my hand through her hair and brushed my lips over her temple. “Are you sure?” I whispered.

“Yes.” Her fingers twisted in my collar. “Yes.” Her mouth found mine again, kissing me urgently. “I’m very, very sure.”

I had Daria flat on her back on that couch not a second later. I reached behind my head and pulled off my shirt, tossing it over my shoulder. Heat flared in her eyes, gaze traveling down my chest and widening the lower she got. I took advantage of her distraction to hook her left foot up and yank open the laces, tugging off her heavy boot.

She pressed herself up on her elbows with a sexy grin. “I can do that, you know.”

I kept my eyes on her as I gently worked her other shoe from her foot. “How about you take that shirt off for me instead?”

She pursed her lips, looking adorably defiant. “Just how bossy are you, by the way?”

I matched her insolent expression, lowering my hips between her spread legs and pressing my chest to hers. She arched beneath me, our lips dancing close but not touching. I slipped my hand beneath her shirt and skated my palm up to cup her bare breast. Her nipple hardened beneath my fingers. I hissed out a breath and dropped my mouth to her ear.

“That depends, Daria. You’re going to tell me how to make you come with my tongue. And then I’m going to do that over”—I kissed her neck— “and over”—I kissed her jaw— “and over again. If that makes me bossy, so be it.” I pinched her chin and brought our faces close. “Now take off your goddamn shirt.”

She captured my mouth with a hushed moan. Her fingers threaded through my hair while her tongue stroked mine. She rolled her hips beneath me, urging me to move, to grind against her in a rhythm that matched the motion of her lips. One hand left my hair and roamed down my neck, the curve of my spine, sliding beneath my sweatpants. Her fingernails bit against my skin, tearing a ragged curse from my throat. I reared back just in time to see her smile indulgently.

“Sorry.” She pouted. “What did you say again?”

I let out a strained laugh that ended in a growl, nipping her throat harder than I intended. But she sighed out a yes that had me yanking off her shirt without any finesse. I pressed my forehead to hers and didn’t look down—knew that once I saw her semi-naked body under my own there’d be no turning back.
