Tip

If you are currently using image maps on your site, you will need to come up with a new solution. Because of the pixel-perfect mapping of image maps, images that are resized will no longer have targets in the places you expect. You can work around this by positioning invisible hot spots on the image by using a percentage for layout, but this is far from a bulletproof solution.

I do not advocate the use of browser-resized images by giving the browser a large image and forcing it to handle scaling the displayed size as a standard practice in your design; however, it can be a last-minute solution to get you by until you can get the correct images or solution in place.
