block from the bar, and in five minutes they were climbing the stairs to the second-floor apartment. They’d said almost nothing on the brief, fast walk, but Van had reached down and boldly taken her hand. The shock of Van’s skin against her palm had made Robbie gasp in surprise.

Van had only looked at her and grinned.

“Come on. The bedroom is back here,” Van murmured as she led the way through the apartment.
