Chapter 9

Ilay for a while and watched the women bathe as they put on a show, but the sound of approaching voices warned me the girls were coming so I started pulling on my clothes. The three of them stepped around the reeds when I was lacing through my belt, and I saw Lian’s dark eyes widen when they fell upon my naked shoulders and torso. The girl seemed especially focused on my arms, tripping when I bent down to pick up my heavy gun belt.

“Lian has the most delicious smelling soup going,” Delilah said, grinning mischievously when she saw the girl staring at me, “She was just telling Jasmine and me this is the first time she’s spent the night away from her grandmother her whole life.”

“It’s all very exciting,” the girl said, her voice barely above a whisper, and her accent surprisingly light, “I read all adventure tales of cowboys and injuns. Will we get to ride horses?”

“Yes, and you’ll love Copper,” Delilah beamed, “she’s the sweetest horse in the world. John can teach you to ride if you don’t know already.”

“I’d like that,” Lian said, blushing and smiling up at me.

“I’m worried about all the forces moving on the plains,” Jasmine said frowning, “making our way through them is going to be a challenge.”

“Don’t worry about that,” I said, when the tall Latina stepped close, and let me pull her close, “Esther, Delilah and I can see us through. We won’t be dealing with any of that nonsense. If we have to, we can ride up north to the Shasta territory and hook south.”

“It will be good to get back to the mountains,” Jasmine said, her dark eyes holding mine, “I didn’t get to spend enough time seeing your lands.”

“Our lands,” I said, then kissed her wide mouth, savoring the feel of her soft, slender body pressing itself against mine.

When I pulled back from the kiss, I felt Lian’s eyes on us, but I tried not to let it make me self-conscious. Jasmine bit her bottom lip as she stepped back and let her dress drop, just as Delilah was doing, the two of them stirring my manhood to firmness as I watched them neatly folding and setting down their clothes.

“I’ll leave you all to it,” I said, my voice a touch rougher than I intended but when I turned to go, Lian hurriedly flicked off her dress, cheeks turning a bright shade of pink before she turned and fled into the waters, Delilah and Jasmine splashing in behind her and laughing as the blonde joked about the girls flaming behind.

My tongue felt too thick and dry as I made my way back to the camp. I couldn’t quite get the sight of her slender body out of my mind. The young woman was the same age as Delilah and Jasmine, but I never seen such a slender, nubile beauty before. Her breasts had been slight, but round, and remarkably, someone had trimmed the thatch of dark hair between her legs.
