Abbi stood watching Ben exchange goodbyes with his parents.

Their car was packed and ready for the trip to Springbank. There, they would catch the train where their adventure would begin. Abbi had already changed the booking, so they were in for a surprise when they arrived. It was the least she could do to pay them back for bringing such a beautiful human into the world. Her boys had already left an hour ago amid a teary goodbye, missing them the second they pulled away. She wanted them all to move up here with her when she’d made the move, but they had their own lives. She understood, it didn’t stop her from wishing they would change their minds someday.

Greg and Nancy were pulling out while Ben waved to them as he walked back towards the house. He was careful to stay next to the house where no prying eyes could see him.

“Hey.” She reached out a hand to him and smiled.

He took it and spun her around so that her back was too him. “Hey yourself, gorgeous,” he growled in her ear as he nuzzled her neck.

“Now what do we do?” she sighed in contentment.

Even though they weren’t alone, the house felt empty somehow.

“Oh, I have a few things in mind,” he murmured. His lips sought out the sensitive spot behind her ear, while he drew her tighter against him.

“Mmm. I bet you do,” she purred. She slid her fingers through his hair as he raked his lips across her skin to her throat.

The door opened just then. “Hey! Oh man! Can’t you guys keep your hands to yourselves for one second?” Mark asked. “Like come on! Feel for the single people around here would ya?”

Ben laughed pulling away from Abbi. “Sure buddy. What did you want?” he said, steering her into the open garage door.

“Well. We decided...” Mark motioned towards Kim and Ava standing there.

“That it would be best for you to stay in the house.” He pointed at the floor with both hands. “This house... unless of course Abbi objects. If that’s the case, then we need to move you in the dark to your place.”

“That’s absurd,” Abbi snickered. “Why would I object?”

“Indeed,” Kim looked at Ben and smiled. She flashed her eyes to Abbi, now a full grin on her face, giving her a wink along with a thumbs up.

Abbi just laughed and shook her head. “You’re incorrigible, you know that, right?” Abbi asked her.

Grinning like the Cheshire cat, Kim shot back, “I try.”

Mark nodded. “Good, it’s settled then. Us three will stay at Ben’s.”

“Abbi, you need to lie low too. The less you’re seen outside, the more likely it will draw the perp out,” Kim said.

Abbi nodded. “Nice cop lingo, you have going on there.”

“I know, right?” she laughed.

“Come on, Aunt Kim. It’s time we got out of their hair,” Ava said tugging on her aunt’s sleeve.

They all entered the house and scattered in different directions, each gathering up their belongings to take over to Ben’s house.
