Although her labs are not yet in normal range, the improvement is dramatic and within another three months we expect most results to be in normal range.
J is highly motivated to work on improving her health. She has a child who needs to be taken care of and a full-time job she needs to keep. She embraced her new diet and has been compliant with taking her supplements. After three months of her new lifestyle, diet, and supplements, her periods have returned, she is working out again, moving much better, able to bend her fingers and knees due to decreased swelling, walking without assistance, and sleeping better. Her energy has improved, her pain has decreased, her rash has resolved, and her mood has improved, all without the use of any prescription drugs.
We continue to work on her health. She stated that even if she stayed where she is currently at, she is so happy to get this far this fast! Natural medicine is extremely effective if used by experienced, professionally trained naturopathic physicians. She could not have achieved these types of results with the typical conventional approach. In fact, if she followed the conventional route, she was facing a life of severe joint deformities, pain, and organ problems from the side effects of immune-suppressing drugs and steroids. She knew this wasnât a healthy path and chose to try something different.
Acid Reflux
There are over 25 million Americans with heartburn/acid reflux/ GERD who spend over five billion dollars per year on antacids and proton pump inhibitors such as Nexium® or Prilosec®. Are those medications treating the cause of heartburn or suppressing the symptoms? The conventional approach is to prescribe proton pump inhibitors or antacids for heartburn or any symptoms related to digestion. Some patients may feel a little better, but are unaware of the damage that develops slowly while they are on these medications. Suppressing the acid may not be good for long-term health. Digestion is the function of breaking down food and absorbing and assimilating the nutrients. Proper digestion needs a high acidic stomach with a pH of 1â2 in order to properly break down food and to absorb minerals, proteins, and vitamins. Even a slight lowering of stomach acid or raising the pH above 3, prevents proper breakdown of food, which results in nutritional deficiencies. Antacids decrease stomach acid thereby decreasing the ability to digest. This results in undigested food traveling through the gastrointestinal tract and further irritating the lining and causing inflammation. Inflammation itself also prevents absorption of nutrients in the intestines, further exacerbating the problems.
Most digestion problems can be helped by proper dietary habits and natural medicine. Many philosophies of natural medicine believe that most illnesses or conditions start with weak digestion. Weak digestion equals poor absorption of nutrients, which results in weak organs, connective tissues, and immune systems. Weak digestion exposes the entire body to metabolic damage, which occurs when cells are deprived of basic nutrients. Organs and tissues, which are made up of cells, become weakened and ultimately lose their ability to function when our digestive processes become impaired.
