Grounding for

Protection Meditation

Grounding is a concept that refers to being fully present in your own body, and/or being connected to the earth. Grounding exercises clear your mind, calm your emotions, recharge your energy, and strengthen your psychic abilities. I believe our body’s natural impulse is to seek out a grounded state. This chapter is about ways in which that can be achieved both for the benefit of the physical body and the opening of your own psychic abilities.

Grounding techniques exist to redistribute energy from your mind to your body. The benefits of regular grounding are: improved blood flow, reduced anxiety, elevated mood, enhanced sleep, and increased memory. Most of the stress we experience is due to a high concentration of energy in our minds, i.e., overanalyzing. The feeling of being unable to shut down the mind is a powerful clue that it’s time to get into our grounding routines.

There are many ways to ground your body. One of my favorite ways is through earthing, which is to touch the earth with your bare skin. To put it briefly, when your bare feet or skin comes in contact with the earth, free electrons are taken up into the body. Earth is a conductor for free electrons, as are all living things on the planet, including us. The body is composed of mostly water and minerals, which in combination are excellent conductors of electrons from the earth, provided there is direct skin contact or some other conductive channel for them to flow through. The earth’s energy upgrades our own physiology by allowing the body to repair, thereby promoting well-being, vitality, and healthier sleep patterns. It also harmonizes and stabilizes the body’s basic biological rhythms. Take a barefooted walk in the grass outside, and for a brief moment notice how your body and mind begin to feel. A charge of energy from the earth begins to harmonize with our own etheric field, bringing about a neutral and balanced flow.

What happens when you aren’t grounded:

• You experience excessive worry and anxiety.

• You overanalyze situations and scenarios.

• You feel extremely spaced-out and scattered.

• You get distracted more easily.

• It’s easier to suffer from insomnia.

• Your body can be overcome with inflammation.

• Even on days after a good night’s sleep, you wake feeling drained and fatigued.

• You are often forgetful or misplace things.

In addition to helping us feel as if we can function better in our daily lives, grounding is a critical component in building our psychic gifts.

When we ground, we calm the over-thinking mind and bring our attention back fully to the present. This enhances the opening of all of our senses, including the sixth sense. In
