The show was fucking awesome.

I enter the back room on a performance high unlike any I’ve had before. We’re all feeling it. Our smiles uncontainable. We’re covered in sweat and salt and fucking elation.

“Motherfucker,” Gus bellows, chugging down an entire bottle of water and chasing it with a few hefty gulps of Patrón. Why they felt the need to set up an entire bar back here, I’ll never understand. It’s not like we asked for it. Feeding the cliché, I suppose. “That was the end-all. I mean, there is no up from there.”

“You, asshole,” Keith points at me, “were on point. I don’t think you’ve ever hit those notes like that before. I mean, what the hell?” He shakes his head in bewildered awe. “And the crowd, man. They were eating us up. We killed it!”

“Did you hear my solo?” Henry asks, staring at his hands like they’re works of art. His dark eyes wide in wonder. “That riff, brother.” He shakes his head, smiling like the devil. “Gus, you have to write more like it for me.”

I stare at my brother and then my lifelong best friends, and I blow out a breath. I’m ready to jump out of my skin right now. I can’t stop moving, and this buzz is taking over everything. I can’t remember the last time I felt this…good. Like everything in my universe is balanced.

“Thank you,” I say to them. “For pushing this tour on me. I forgot…,” I shake my head, suddenly turning pussy and overcome. “I fucking forgot this.” I splay my arms around the room. Around us. Between us.

“Epic,” Henry agrees, taking a step toward me, slapping his hand on my shoulder. Then Gus and Keith do the same with each other until we’re all linked together. Like one entity. One force. I don’t even care if it’s cheesy. This moment feels that big.

“Legendary.”

“Incendiary.”

“Prodigious.”

The four of us stare at each other for a long moment and then burst into peals of laughter.

“I’m taking a shower and then going out to get laid. Big time. Like crazy Vegas-style sex. Who’s with me?” Keith asks, and for a moment, that sounds so damn tempting. I cannot remember the last time I had sex. I mean, I know it was sometime back when my last nanny was still around, and she stayed late to watch Adalyn so Gus and I could go out. Translation, so I could go out and get laid. But that was at least six months ago.

So, sex? Yeah, that sounds pretty damn good.

But…

“Vi is with Adalyn in the suite, right?” Henry spits out, reading my thoughts. “You deserve a night out. A night off daddy duty. Seriously. When the hell was the last time you had a break?”

I shrug, because like I said, it was a while ago. I’m always on daddy duty. Especially since I’ve been nanny-less.

But here’s the other side of this coin. The last meaningless sex I had was just that, meaningless. I cannot even remember what the girl looked like.
