“Are you sure?” he asked for the fifth time.

And yes, I had been counting.

He’d been relentless all week. More confident. More gutsy. And not because when Saskia wouldn’t leave the apartment he actually picked her up and locked her in the bathroom as he’d threatened her before.

He was also questioning me a lot more. Questioning everything. Maybe I should let him fuck me for a while if it meant he settled a bit, but as he was, he was dangerous.

Dangerous to both my plan and my resolve.

“Yes, I’m sure,” I told him. Also for the fifth time.

He pinched the skin of his puffy, freshly kissed lips, and mulled over my response as if it was the first time he’d heard it.

“And it won’t hurt her?”

“No,” I said. “All I’ll do is cast an illusion so she thinks I’m just another witch in need of something, we’ll ask her to guide us to Heimdall and then I’ll make her forget everything. She’ll be fine.” My words didn’t seem to soothe the worry lines on his forehead, though.

“But she’ll know I lied to her,” he said.

“No. She’ll just know she can’t trust her memory of the incident.”

“Which is as good as lying.”

“If you’re that concerned about your friend, why don’t you tell her the truth? If she is your friend, she’ll be happy to help you.”

He shook his head as emphatically as he refused the plan the first time, the movement of the train making it even more pronounced. “No. I can’t risk that. I know she’s a friend, but I don’t want to put it to the test.”

I narrowed my eyes as the pride swelled in me. Not afraid to use the people closest to him to get what he wanted. It was a rule out of my playbook, if I had one, but a trickster knew better than to keep one.

And yet, as proud as I was, I was equally worried.

Would he keep his word? Would he let me free once he got his revenge? Or would he keep me because he liked having a weapon of mass destruction in his arsenal?

Hopefully, the answer would soon not matter.

Hopefully, Lorelai would lead us to my children and this would all be over.

“Then we stick with the plan.”

He studied my face for a few moments. I’d done the same over the last few days, I’d memorized every square inch of him in immaculate detail.

So much so it didn’t matter if I closed my eyes or not, I could see him as clear as day performing every scandalous act I hadn’t thought possible before I’d claimed him. The taste of his skin and the vision of his orgasm was etched onto my soul like nothing I’d felt before.

I’d been with my masters in the past, with many of them, many times and yet none had felt like he had. I didn’t know what made him unique but I felt it to my very core, as if it had been written there since the beginning of time.
