CHAPTER NINE

Spencer

I walked out of the bathroom, working on piercing the cufflink through the uncooperative, stiff cuff with my left hand. I glanced up, searching for Lee and some help, but then stumbled against the bedpost when I noticed him standing in the middle of our bedroom, dressed for the night ahead.

“Fuck me,” I mumbled.

My gaze traced over his all black suit, complete with a satin pocket square, shiny lapels, fitted pants, and patent leather shoes with buckles that matched the bangles on his sleeves. The outfit darkened his jet black hair and turned his eyes into a richer chestnut, emphasizing the beige skin along his neck, face, and hands. It made him glow.

I gulped, the flash of want shocking me into stillness. A desire to suck on his neck, listening to and feeling him groan as I marked him, made my dick swell to half mast in my pants. Other scenarios played out where Lee and I wouldn’t be able to control ourselves in the limo and we’d take advantage of the traffic so I could get his dick in my mouth.

Shit, not a good time.

His eyes sparkled as I let out a groan of pure need and my heart rate spiked when the side of his mouth tilted up in a smile that further threw me off balance. My reaction to Lee wasn’t based on pure desire alone, but I found myself, more often than not, treasuring the closeness I shared with him. We were compatible in every way and it made me realize that I’d never missed out on experiencing relationships and love. Because I was waiting for Lee.

“So fucking gorgeous,” I croaked out.

His fists clenched at his sides as his head dropped back. A strangled groan rumbled over me, leaving me a panting mess.

“Fuck, love, you can’t get all gruff with me and not have me react to you. And…” his eyes moved up from my shoes to the black slacks, the white dinner jacket with black lapels, and up to my bowtie, “Wow. Just wow. It’s not like we’ve never seen each other dressed this way, but I’ve been denying myself the pleasure of truly appreciating you in a suit.”

He sauntered closer and without missing a beat, took the offending thing from my hand, lifted my wrist by my shirt sleeve, and slid in the metal stud, clicking it into place. His fingers traced the veins of my wrists, holding me captive with his sultry gaze.

The doorbell rang, and I blinked at Lee without moving to answer it. I understood my obligations, but with Lee’s heated gaze aimed at me, the last thing I wanted to do was leave the house.

My appearance was necessary when a movie premiered; I’d walk the red carpet while flashing cameras blinded me as I kept up my smile, the questions asked and answered about my costars and what it was like to work with the director, and in the end, watching the movie in it’s polished glory.

But tonight would change everything for Lee and I.
