I thought about Sensei's words as I sat squished in the back of the truck while Sky drove me back to the orchard. He was definitely right about one thing; it would open a lot of different doors. It could be like Sky suggested where we drive away the Nibiruans altogether and risked the results of Dark Matter ourselves.

Maybe King Tammuz would absorb us into his Kingdom, and we could live a freer and happier life like Sensei suggested. Under King Tammuz, I would be free to exist. No longer would we have to segregate and limit our knowledge to what a Queen approved of. Sharing of information would be endless, and there were sure to be ways to fix the dark matter issue in such a climate.

I was almost sure any and all problems could be solved if you had the right source of information. I couldn't see why this would be any different.

As soon as I started to feel hopeful, my mind would fill with all the impossible barriers that would have to be overcome for even a glimmer of hope. Mainly me, a scrawny gangly girl from an orchard somehow cutting off the head of the Queen of the Stars.

"Hey, just give it a few days to think it over," Sky spoke up, breaking the silence in the car.

We hadn't said anything to each other as I was escorted out through another tunnel only to emerge through a granite formation on the other side of the train tracks. Sky was leaning against his truck, picking at some stray dry grass as he waited for me. I hated how he made something as boring as waiting look so hot.

"It's a big decision, I get that," he pressed on when I didn't speak. "Just know it's an opportunity any of us would wish for."

"Good, then you do it," I shot back.

"And it's one that isn't going to come around again for a really long time," he continued despite my snarky remark.

"That really doesn't help me want to be a murderer," I scoffed.

"But really, who is the murderer? I mean, if you so much as walked down the street, you would be seized and…"

He didn't finish that particular thought.

"And you're not the only one who would be killed with the snap of her fingers. Anyone who even thinks a little differently than she wishes is taken and killed. How many lives are on her hands? You, on the other hand, with one act, you could set a whole nation free. You could set yourself free! You could see the world like you always talk about. Read a whole room full of books."

I gave a gruff laugh from under my hiding blanket.

"You could even marry and start a family," he added softly. "I mean, if you found someone you thought you might want to do that with."

I peeked out of the blanket and looked at Sky. He must have sensed it because he looked down at me for a minute. It was a pure, unfiltered Sky, with no guises or ego to hide behind.
