Chapter Ten

“Mom called to remind you about the 8:00 a.m. arrival time.” His gaze shifted from her to Ian. Max’s brows pinched, and his jaw tightened.

Crap. This wasn’t how she wanted him to find out about her sleeping with his brother. “Max, look, it’s not what you think.”

Ian kept the towel over his cock and took a step forward. “Yes it is. We made love, fell asleep, and took a shower.”

Damn him. She didn’t want to hurt Max’s feelings.

Max’s lips thinned. “I’ll drive you over in thirty minutes.” He spun on his heels and strode out.

She turned in Ian’s arms. “Why did you do that?”

“Why not?” He cupped her face. “Max and I want you. Both of us do. We want to share. It doesn’t matter if you make love to me first or Max. Face it. The three of us are destined to be together.”

Did he not think she had a life in LA? Yes, she’d be coming back, but there was no guarantee she’d end up in Intrigue. “Don’t I have a say-so?”

“Sure, but we know what’s best for you.”

She stepped back. “I’ve been making my own decisions for a long time. I don’t need you two to tell me what I want. Okay?” She hadn’t meant to be so pissy, but having Max walk in on them really threw her.

Ian held up his hands. “You’re in charge, but don’t be in denial. You want us.” He nodded, tossed the towel back on the bed and left, his delicious ass pumping muscles the whole way.

Shit. Now she’d hurt his feelings, too.

Ian was right, but she wasn’t up to telling him that. She did want both men, only now she’d blown it with Max. Maybe after the show she could make it up to him.

She quickly dressed and rushed into the kitchen, dreading the five-minute ride back to the ranch. Something smelled good.

Max filled a plate with scrambled eggs and handed it to her. “You need to have your energy. You have a long day today.”

She wouldn’t have expected him to be so kind after what he saw in the bedroom. “Thanks. Listen, Max.”

He held up a hand. “You don’t need to explain. I’m glad you and Ian got together.”

Again he surprised her. She brought her food to the table and sat down. In silence, she gulped her food. She hadn’t realized how hungry she was.

Once she finished, she carried her dish to the sink. “I’m ready.”

“Let’s go.”

The conversation stayed on the topic of the fashion show and not on what she and Ian were doing this morning. She’d broach that topic at a later time.

People were everywhere when they arrived. About ten workers were setting the tables for the luncheon. At five hundred dollars a head, the charity should receive a nice check. Then there was the commission from the designers themselves when the patrons bought their clothes.

She and Max were headed toward the house when his face broke into a smile. A lovely woman and two handsome men strode toward Max.
