Chapter Two

Serena’s eyes burned as she tried to concentrate on the computer screen in front of her. It was almost close to midnight, and her work was still not over. After running away from the interview and arriving at the office in a defeated state, Serena had barged into Bree’s office and complained about Rachel, but to no avail.

Serena had expected Bree to side with Rachel, but the complete lack of guilt shown by the editor in doing so shocked Serena, and that's when she was bombarded by work as a punishment for not doing well at the interview.

The office was empty, except for Bree, who was inside her office, and Serena, who was sitting at her cubicle, going through all the transcripts of every interview that had been conducted by the publication in the past week, and searching for typos and other stuff.

That is when she heard the noise.

A shrill scream that came from Bree’s office but the voice was not Bree’s. It was another voice. A voice she had started to hate after today.

“Aaaaahhh fuck! Yes, Bree, lick my pussy like the perverted woman you are. Stick it in deeper, you slut,” Rachel moaned from inside Bree’s office, and Serena could hardly believe what she was hearing.

“That will be enough for today, Serena. You can go home now,” said Bree, letting go of Rachel’s hand.

Serena simply nodded, and began gathering her stuff.

“Umm...Bree? I have to gather my things as well. Why don’t you go ahead, and I will tidy things up here and leave along with Serena.”

“As you wish,” said Bree, and left, the clicking of her heels disappearing after a few seconds.

“You must have heard that?”

“What?” asked Serena, feigning innocence.

“The sound of me moaning my ass off as our boss stuffed her face between my legs.”

“No, I heard nothing.”

“You are such a liar. I know you complained about me as well. What did that achieve?” asked Rachel, pulling a chair and sitting beside Serena.

“I don’t understand why you are doing this? You have everything in the world. You don’t need this internship. Why can’t you let me have it?”

“I have my reasons. But, I can spare you if you want. I can make your life very easy from tomorrow onwards, very pleasurable as well. All you have to do,” said Rachel and grabbed the arms of Selena’s chair and pulled her closer, “is sit in my lap right now, and kiss me.”

Serena did not respond, but stared into Rachel’s eyes. She could not understand why she could not look away. And she could not understand why what Rachel had just asked of her excited her.

“I am not interested in girls,” whispered Serena, but she could not find the conviction in her voice.
