ABEL

“I’m hungry.”

Kameron’s final word was stretched out at the end, lilting up into a whine Abel thought would have been right at home coming from his son. Instead, it was coming from the man who had once again stretched himself out on the couch in his office. Kameron was the picture of lack of professionalism at that moment, stretched out and taking up more space than was necessary as he stared morosely up at the ceiling.

It was almost as pathetic to see as it was to hear Kameron’s pitiful whines. That did not stop him from noticing that not only had Kameron’s pants started riding low, but his shirt had ridden up. He could make out the crease of the man’s stomach where he bent his body and could see the barest hint of the man’s underwear peeking out.

And if it made him a horndog to feel the faint stirrings at the sight, he’d take the accusation proudly.

“You’re a full-grown man,” Abel told him, noticing Kameron only sighed in response. “You are more than capable of ordering food if you’d like.”

“Ugh,” Kameron grunted, flopping an arm over his eyes. “I feel like all I’ve been seeing is this office.”

Abel grimaced, understanding the man’s complaints. Although he had been hoping for a little more time to enjoy themselves since they’d finally talked things out the weekend before, it hadn’t turned out quite as he’d hoped. Over the course of another week, Kameron found himself going to a series of doctor’s appointments for his father, and Abel found himself pulled away by one thing or another. If it wasn’t his campaign, it was the council, errands for his father’s various dealings, then it was trying to squeeze in time with his son.

They weren’t constantly around one another, at least when it came time to work. Abel was used to spending a lot of time in the office, but Kameron didn’t seem to mind…for the most part.

What Abel thought he was seeing now was the familiar restlessness he’d seen in Kameron in the past. Kameron had never been content to stick to one place for too long. If he stayed in his dorm room or at Abel’s apartment for a little too long, he ended up restless and cranky. More often than not, his mood could be salvaged by letting him explore or going on a brief trip somewhere new.

“Someone’s feeling restless,” Abel teased in a singsong voice.

Kameron snorted. “I mean, a little.”

“I’m honestly surprised it’s taken what, six weeks now?”

“I can’t tell if it feels like it’s been longer or shorter than that.”

“I would’ve thought I’d have seen it before now.”

Kameron pulled his arm away to glare at him. “First of all, I’m not as bad as I used to be, thank you very much. Secondly, this does not sound like you helping fix my problem.”

Abel chuckled, his eyes falling onto the bare skin still showing. He felt himself drum on the surface of his desk as he considered what to do next.
