Chapter Thirteen

Carrie glanced around the fourth floor lounge. It looked like one of those places in the crime shows. Where all the lawyers hung out, with dark wood and pictures decorating the walls. A baby grand piano sat on a stage, a mic beside it. She could almost imagine a woman in a long slinky dress belting out smooth jazz while the instrument played in the background. Small cafe tables dotted the space, a dance floor of parquet in the center. A large mahogany bar filled one wall, a gold railing followed its curves. Bottles of every liquor she’d ever heard of and some she hadn’t lined the counter behind it. The dim light reflected through them in a splash of color. The bartender nodded when they passed, his hands lazily wiping out shot glasses with a rag.

Leo led her through the back into an enormous wine cellar, and she stared at the massive wall of bottles. She had no clue what most of the labels said, but she was sure they cost more than she would ever see in her life. He walked up to a desk, pulling a huge leather ledger from a drawer. Skimming through the tabs, he opened it with a flourish. The smell of pages and ink permeated the air. He turned toward the shelves and ran a finger over a plaque under each bottle. Each row was a number, and each column was a letter, he explained, before pointing high up and dragging a tall metal ladder before it.

“The one I want has dark glass and a tan label. A cabernet. E36,” he said. “Up you go.”

“Why am I climbing and not you?”

He smiled, his green eyes twinkling.

“Because I asked you to.”

She gritted her teeth and mounted the rungs. Thankfully, Billy had picked out a short skirt with a pair of flats, otherwise this climb would be dangerous. She read the numbers off in her head as she went higher. 32, 33, 34, 35... Leaning forward, she peered at a plaque.

“I think this is...”

Her voice trailed off when she felt something slide up her inner thighs. Licking her lips, she gazed over her shoulder. He stood beneath her, his eyes glowing with a hungry fire. He lifted the back of her skirt and parted her ass cheeks. She moaned when he buried his mouth between her legs, his tongue flicking over her sensitive flesh. She clutched the metal in her hands and arched her spine. He gripped her hips and pulled her down. She clung to the rails as she essentially sat on his face. His fingers dove into her, working her into a frenzy.

Not that it was hard to do. Carrie felt like she was in a constant state of arousal. All Leo had to do was look at her with that lopsided grin of his, and she was drenched. Her mind was fuzzy, and she found herself fantasizing about him, but she quickly banished the thoughts. She needed to escape him, not fall under his spell.
