You’re only ever as fast as your slowest team member, so you need to make sure everyone has the support they need to excel. Pressure and frustration impede performance. You need to explain how everything works, how each department connects, and how that combines to make happy customers. When attending my 10X CEO coaching sessions, all we talked about was how to create high-performance organizations. I always used to say, “If I’m going to build a company, I want to build one I’d like to work at.” For me, that was making work fun. I wanted them to love their jobs, to feel valued and understood. If anyone seemed a little down or demotivated, I’d say, “Hey, you okay? Why don’t you take the day off and rest? We’ll see you tomorrow.”
